Location Ai is delighted to share that we have successfully enabled indoor positioning in an Android smart watch using Ai-assisted location SDK from Mapxus Technology after long efforts from both teams, and a hardware R&D and manufacturer based in Shenzhen, China.

It is the first successful case to achieve 3-5 meters location accuracy and precision in the Android system after 4 years R&D efforts according to Dr. C.Y. Chan, the CEO of Mapxus. “The major difficulty is to simultaneously achieving excellent location positioning without installation of extra infrastructure like i-beacon in the environment and without over consuming the energy of the Android system”, Dr. James Chau of Location Ai said.

The precisive indoor positioning is achieved only via Wi-Fi fingerprinting technology based on specially designed antenna in Android 8.1 system with Ai empowerment. Mapxus and Location Ai teams are performing the detailed testing of the system in various venues and campuses with different environmental settings. The teams are working out the prototypes for POC projects. Thanks R&D team’s excellent works leaded by Dr. James Chau.
